Knowing I was a retired contractor, he explained the few areas I could handle myself and never pushed any usual " upscale" crap I normally have to endure. I called in for a dryer vent cleaning and was greeted by a knowledgeable gentleman who said he could arrange for one of his technicians to come by the house and figure out the best way to clean my vent. I was able to get an appointment 4 days from when I called. He gave me a 4 hour window and expect a call when the tech would be on the way to my house. Boom it all worked out as described. I was pleasently greeted by Jeremy one of the A1 senior service team members. He got right to it, assessed the situation, explained the issues and how he was going to clean it. He cleaned the entire run and even cleaned out all around my dryer. He reconnected everything and left the areas he worked in cleaner than when he started. I will use A1 again and I recommend this company.

Joel provided a quick and professional visit to clean out my dryer vent. He also replaced the tubing from the dryer to the outdoor vent.

I had my chimney cleaned by Jeremy and Alex from A-1 Chimney, and it was a wonderful experience. They found a huge problem in my chimney which could have caused a fire had it not been repaired. Both Jeremy (senior tech and Alex (his assistant tech) were kind, professional and very knowledgeable. They went above and beyond to fix this problem, and communicated everything clearly to me. I HIGHLY recommend them and will always return to their service.

I called around a few places but found A-1 to be the most helpful in explaining what services I should be looking for. The owner worked with my situation to quote me a price that was fair. The day of the appointment, Jeremy and Alex called ahead of time and showed up within the window I was given. They were very safe, considerate and professional. Jeremy was knowledgeable and gave a lot of advice on how to maintain both the chimney and dryer duct moving forward. He was clear in his explanations and patient in handling all my questions. We will use them for our maintenance in the years to come!

This is a great company. When I called, I got an intelligent, friendly person on the phone right away (and during subsequent calls). They listened carefully to my problem and quoted a cheaper price than the other two companies I'd already tried. They set me up with an appointment earlier than I'd hoped for. On the appointment day, the technician called ahead to make sure we were home, and then arrived exactly when he said he would. He was courteous and friendly, and explained what he was doing. He found we didn't need all the work we'd asked for, and charged less. On the follow-up appointment, a second technician also arrived exactly on time and was just as friendly and professional. I wish they did more than chimneys/vents/screens, I'd hire them to do any handiwork on the house!

My dryer duct was very clogged and needed cleaning ASAP. I was able to schedule an appointment within a day of my first call. Austin arrived on time wearing a mask. He was very friendly and got right to work. The duct had years worth of buildup which made the cleaning more difficult than usual. However, Austin managed to get it cleared out fairly quickly. He also did great cleaning up after the job. I have already recommended this company to a friend. I will be using them again.

I scheduled an appointment for a chimney cleaning and dryer vent cleaning. Jeremy was the technician that came out. He did an amazing job! I highly recommend him. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. I had a bunch of questions since I have an unusual setup and he answered them all. He was very patient and seemed to look out for the customer. He didn't try to sell me unnecessary services and seemed very honest.

We have been in our home for 2 years and have never used the fireplace. Austin came out for cleaning and inspection and was very knowledgeable and professional. He was on time and got the job done quickly. I feel comfortable using my fireplace now.

A few days ago Sacramento had a very bad wind storm. I called property manager after I discovered the cover from our chimney had blown off. Austin from A-1 came this morning to replace the cover and cleaned our chimney. He was very professional and polite. Austin wore a mask and booties over his shoes. He also checked a few of our gutters that were clogged. Good job Austin!

Super impressed. I messaged them on Tuesday night at 7 PM. By Wednesday morning they wrote back and we scheduled a visit for Thursday afternoon. That's quick. The tech, Austin, called and texted about a half hour before arriving which was greatly appreciated. He was very nice, explained everything, answered questions, wore a mask, and did a great job. He cleaned my dryer inside and out, plus the duct all the way outside of the house. There was a ton of lint inside there after about 20 years of neglect. He also cleaned the fireplace quite well, and suggested a bit of work I could do myself to repair a tiny fracture in the concrete. He cleaned up well after himself, put everything back, etc. Great job. Total cost was $460 for everything, which was a good amount cheaper than another quote I was given for the same services.

So pleased to have had A1 come to clean, inspect chimney and dryer. Yesterday reminder phone call to me. This morn a call :30 min prior to arrival by Sawyer the tech. Wore mask and gloves. Used tarp to protect floors. Used extreme care in my home. Carried large vac in. Outside he went on roof and full inspection. Pictures were fab. Went thru one by one. They are emailed post appt. Professional, great customer service. Could not be more pleased. And feel very safe for this fire log season.

Started this interaction today with them having lost my reservation, but ended with a manager (Richard) calling me right back and fixing the problem. First rule of customer service: every bad situation is an opportunity to wow the customer. So I am replacing the less than complimentary review I just had posted with this one. I'm leaving off the last star for now, just in case something goes south again, and also because I'm still coming down from the agitation I initially felt, not as much from them having lost my reservation, but because the CSR who answered the phone offered me no solutions and even made me feel like I was either lying or maybe nuts. Still coming down from that. Not a good feeling. But a teachable moment. My guess is that she was as confounded as Richard was as to why I wasn't in the system, and instead of making me feel better about things, inadvertently made me feel cast-aside. I am certain this was the place I called, because I remember giving the CSR who took my reservation the price quote, and when she repeated it back to me, she added ninety nine cents to the quote, and I thought, "I didn't say anything about 99 cents," but didn't want to quibble about it. After making the reservation, I looked at the quote again, and lo and behold, there was the 99 cents she mentioned. I say this because after getting off of the phone with the CSR today, I was racking my brain, mortified, that I had just reached out to the wrong place and made a stranger feel bad. But this strong memory proves to me that I was calling the right place. Anyway, Richard made it better (and even honored the original quote despite a subsequent increase in their rates), and the CSR seemed like she was a nice person, so after cooling down, I choose to remember this as a miscommunication and an unintended consequence.

Everyone I spoke to at A1 was helpful and polite. Steve went the extra mile to help me with my fireplace insert. Overall, A1 provides true professionals.

After 10+ years of not having our chimney and dryer vents inspected or cleaned, we noticed our dryer was taking longer to dry clothes and the fireplace would cause our room to become smokey. I requested quotes from many companies in the area and although they were not the "cheapest," I felt compelled after talking with Martin on the phone. Martin was so helpful, knowledgeable and personable that I could not help but have them perform the two services. Joel and another associate (I'm sorry I forgot his name) came today and performed a terrific job. They were professional, efficient and very informative. They wore masks and shoe covering which is really appreciated especially nowadays (covid). They took pics of their work and were honest about what needed to be done without being persistent. I also got a quote for their gutter services and a couple of upgrades to the fireplace and will hopefully be calling them back to schedule that. Overall, very professional, very trustworthy and most importantly very friendly. Thanks guys!

On time. Professional. Courteous. I needed to switch out a dryer duct hose. The old one was crimped and leaking hot air into the laundry room. Contacted Chris at A-1 who scheduled a next day appt. but said if a technician opened up, he could service me that afternoon. At noon, I got a call from Joel who said he was 20 minutes away. He came, assessed the problem, fixed it, and was done in 20 minutes. Great service. Five stars for their expertise and response!

I wss given an appt within 2 days of calling. Senior Tech, Jeremy was very professional and thorough. He cleaned my chimney as well as inspected the outside where we have a problem. A1 Chimney inspected my masonry fireplace and then we discussed several options on how to get it functional again. In the end, I decided to have them install a wood burning insert. The installation was rather challenging and the insert did not completely fit in, there was a gap between the front plate and the fireplace surrounding. After having discussed with the technician and the owner, A1 came back and corrected the issue. I recommend A1 due to great customer orientation.

Called for service and the next day out Justin came cleaned my dryer vents and reattached my venting hose, I had had trouble with it staying on , and Justin attached it for me. Cleaned everything up nicely, all is well quite pleased!

We use this company for the first time. I was impressed with their quick response to my call back. The sweeper arrived on set time. He did a excellent job of cleaning our smelly chimney. When my husband ask him to make sure to scrap it real good. The employee scraped the bricks again. When he finished, the smell of burned wood that permeated throughout the house was gone! A job well done. We'll use them again and I highly recommend them. We received excellent customer service.

These guys were great! Joe arrived just when he said he would. Took about an hour to clean my OLD OLD fireplace and he was super clean and efficient! Paperwork was taken care of via electronic notepad, email and CC swiper too. Glad to see a service like this has gotten with the times. I won't wait 7 years to get this done again. I'm a 1st time customer. I was referred to A-1 from another chimney sweep business who no longer cleans wood-burning fireplaces and uses A-1 during their busy season. I must admit I was a little skeptical after reading some of these reviews but I thought I would call and if I didn't like the customer service on the phone then I wouldn't book. I was very pleased with the person I spoke with. He was friendly, patient and did a good job of explaining to me what the services would include. Allan showed up as scheduled and did a great job cleaning my fireplace and he did get on the roof and inspected the chimney. The price was the price I was quoted on the phone ($159) and I really liked how the inspection report was emailed to me before he left. The report also included the estimate to make some repairs. I am happy that I went with A-1 Chimney.

I'm a realtor, and call on A-1 frequently for inspections and, when needed, repairs for my clients' chimneys and gas fireplaces and dryer vents. They've always done a great job, and just yesterday I had a client tell me how happy they were with the technician who came to their home - did a great job cleaning out the dryer vent, which needed cleaning badly, and even took extra time to show her some things about their gas fireplace. Two weeks ago I watched a technician persevere for 20+ minutes walking around a 2nd story roof looking for the vent to do the dryer vent cleaning. Literally going above and beyond.

The first technician came out to do a fireplace inspection for me and was not completely familiar with the type of pipe used for my gas log set (old house), so he recommended a follow up appointment with another technician that specialized in gas sets. He also installed a spark arrestor. Great timely service with a reminder call about a half an hour before he arrived. The second technician Aaron came to check the gas log set to make sure the pipe work was correct. He did a thorough job checking the connections and found no problems. He also kindly used the gas leak detector to make sure I connected my stove correctly. Very friendly and timely service. He also answered all the general questions I had which was kindly appreciated!

Hard to say, "Woohoo!" because it wasn't like they delivered me beer and pizza, and they didn't pay me, but.... Working with A-1 Chimney made our home safer, warmer, and more usable. We recently purchased an old home that had trouble with the chimney. Thankfully, our real estate agent pointed us in the direction of A-1 chimney to do an inspection, and we chose them to do the repair. The A-1 team was incredibly professional. The detail in the inspection report was easily understandable, and the process to hire them to make the repairs was also easy. The team arrived on time, performed the work, and they did a little extra cosmetic work, too which helped us save money and provided a better overall look. Highly recommended.

So far, so good! A-1 Chimney cleaned my chimney in December right before Christmas. The man who came out, Justin, was very polite and knowledgeable. Justin inspected the top of the chimney first and even brought me pictures to show me some of the issues I'm having at the top (primarily some wood damage). He brought a huge vacuum cleaner into the house, used a tarp, and vacuumed out the fireplace area. He pointed out a crack in the floor and the back of my chimney. I had known about this crack, but had been told previously that it would probably cost upwards of $300 to fix it. Justin suggested sealing it for $40. He told me that this is probably a temporary solution, but that it should last for a number of years since I rarely use my fireplace. Overall, Justin seemed honest, and didn't want to charge me for a lot of extra things that I could do myself, and left the place clean. My only complaint is that the fireplace is still smoking a little more than I would like. I'm not sure why this is, and it may have nothing to do with A-1 Chimney. Full disclosure: A-1 Chimney has asked some of their customers to write reviews for compensation. However, they do not dictate whether these reviews need to be positive or negative. I don't blame them since reviews online help local businesses, and sometimes negative reviews outweigh positive reviews simply because those of us with good experiences don't take the time to write about them. 🙂

I found the selling staff and install staff to be very nice and informative. I had a new gas insert and dryer vent service done on a home I purchased. It took a few times for the fireplace install, however I was informed along the way with what the issues were.

I am totally surprised by the terrible reviews. We have been having a problem with smoke coming into the house when we light a fire. Thinking the problem was due to the chimney being dirty, we purchased all of the chimney sweep stuff, and cleaned it ourselves. After the thorough clean, however, we still had a huge issue with smoke. I saw the groupon deal for an inspection and cleaning, and emailed them to see if they would be willing to give us a deal for just the inspection. They offered me a pretty good deal. Their employee Justin came on time. He was super polite, and appeared very knowledgeable. Best off, he was incredibly thorough. He spent 40 minutes or so looking into the fireplace insert, as well as looking into the chimney. He checked the pipes to determine if it was thoroughly cleaned. I was a little concerned that in order to get more business, they would claim that the cleaning we did was not sufficient, and that it needed a professional cleaning. However, he commented multiple times that it was cleaned extremely well. This alone, in my opinion, proved a great deal of credibility. He gave us several tips on how to avoid problems. The most impressive thing he did was suggest that we spray paint the metal part of the top of the chimney (with high temperature paint). He said it was beginning to rust and they could do it for us, but it was be very expensive. And he said if it continued to corrode, and needed to be replaced, it was be extremely expensive to replace. Yeah, you heard right, they gave me a tip on how to save major dough. The issue we had with the smoke was related to the flue. The flue handle had broken, so the flue was stuck closed. He opened it, and said that it was fine to just keep it open. We were not charged anything over the inspection fee. I see that A1 has lot of negative reviews, and I can't speak for others, but Justin demonstrated a great deal of integrity, professionalism, and skill. We are very happy to be able to again use our fireplace (even though it is now spring, lol!). And if you ever have an issue with the manager, request to speak to the owner. He clearly cares about how well his company operates. Look at how he responds to customers on yelp. Few businesses take the time to address unhappy customers... I would know since I have written many bad reviews about other companies myself 😉 I would absolutely recommend this company!

We were referred to A1 by another company and needed someone to come out quickly for a safety inspection and repair of our gas fireplace. They scheduled us for the day after I called. They gave me a 4 hour window but called to confirm the exact time. The tech, Aaron, thought he might be 5 minutes late and called to let me know. Rare these days. Aaron was very polite, very clean in the work area and really thorough. He explained what he was doing, what the issues were, how he resolved them, did a really thorough cleaning (all parts out on cloth over the floor) then performed multiple tests to make sure everything worked well and that our fireplace was safe to use. Our fireplace hasn't put out this much flame in years and it's heating the room again! We were very happy with the professionalism of scheduling the appointment and with our service, and would highly recommend Aaron.

My experience (2 appointments) with A-1 Chimney was perfect. The first technician visited to clean my chimney and provide an estimate to replace a broken damper. He called on his way with an estimated time of arrival, showed up on time, cleaned everything and left an estimate within a reasonable timeframe. I then scheduled the second appointment to have the damper replaced. The second technician (Jeremy) also called with an ETA on his way out. He arrived on time and then inspected the damper. After a while, he explained that he may be able to repair the damper without replacing it. Jeremy showed me exactly what he was talking about, called his local office and provided a new estimate on the spot. He was able to repair the damper without replacing it. He sent me photos of everything prior to leaving and left detailed comments on the invoice. Jeremy's attention to detail saved my family hundreds of dollars! Very few companies would do the right thing like this because most companies would simply make their technicians complete the ordered service to make the most amount of money as possible. Overall, I am complete satisfied with A-1 Chimney's customer service and professionalism. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone (plus, they drove out to Woodland when another Sacramento chimney company wouldn't).

I have to agree with mymy n. I was worried after reading the reviews that this would not be the company for me, but I called and they were able to schedule my appointment for the next day. Leon came out, he is very nice and professional and cleaned my chimney in no time and didn't try to sell me any other services. In fact he even gave me tips on better ways to use my fireplace. I would use them again in a heart beat!

I purchased a groupon with A-1 for a chimney cleaning and inspection. By the time I called them to schedule the work, it was only a week before Thanksgiving. They were really busy and at first couldn't fit us in before the holiday. But seeing my desperation, they found a way to squeeze us in the same day! The inspection and report were very thorough with detailed pictures. They also had before and after pictures of the cleaning itself - night and day difference! We're really pleased with this service and very happy to be able to use our fireplace over Thanksgiving.

Wow, I am really impressed! I was crossing my fingers after reading the other reviews bc I needed it to be done ASAP. I was really hesitant to call a-1 after reading other reviews but wow am I impressed! First off, I would like to mention how timely their scheduling system was. I called and got an appointment two days later and I was unable to make it within the time frame and they were nice enough to push it back to the next opening window. We got a call about fifteen minutes before Leon showed and he was really courteous! He came in rolled out all his supplies to assure that he did not leave a mess. I really appreciated that considering how OCD I am with contractors wearing their shoes in our house. Anyhow, he came in let us ask and answered questions we had and got straight to work. After then he found a clot in our chimney and cleared it by going on top of the roof. I am very pleased with the results and so happy that it wasn't what the other reviews made it to be. Leon also gave us a few tips as far as keeping it clean and such. Thanks Leon for a job well done! Will definitely return for our annual chimney cleaning.

Just had our chimney cleaned & inspected. Competitive/fair pricing, Booking apt was timely, straight-forward and courteous. Technician, Jeremy, was on-time (called to confirm in advance), very respectful, covered surrounding area carefully w/ drop-cloths to avoid soil and extremely thorough fireplace insert & chimney cleaning. Definitely recommend A-1 Chimney and already calendared to give them a all this time next year!

Needed our dryer vent cleaned asap as we had lent coming out of the vent on the roof. I emailed A-1 and they were out the next morning. I got a call from the technician Jeremy saying he would be here in 20 minutes. When Jeremy arrived he was professional and and nice. I called for a cleaning and inspection due to some issues I was having with my wood stove. I called for an appt and they were able to send someone out that day. Unfortunately I had had a fire going that morning so Jeremy was not able to do a cleaning but he did diagnose my issue and fixed it somewhat at the time with no charge. I rescheduled for today and Jeremy came back and did a complete cleaning. My chimney had apparently never been cleaned based on what he said and I had not done it in the year that I have been here. It was a very difficult cleaning due to the type of chimney and the amount of build up. Jeremy was neat and very courteous. He cleaned up everything and my fire is burning great now. I would highly recommend A-1 Chimney. I believe the price was reasonable based on the amount of work and time that it took him.

I live out in Davis and Justin came out and replaced everything in the chimney and performed a chimney cleaning. He was quick and tidy and really polite. I can definitely recommend this company to a friend.

I would definitely refer them to anyone looking to get their fireplace cleaned. I called and they came out the next morning. I asked if they could tighten the time frame and I was the first one. Jeremy was great. Spent an hour cleaning out the fp and writing up the results. I then asked if he could look at our dryer vent. He was like a cat walking up on the roof and taking pictures of all the lint that was stuck. It took him an additional 45 minutes to clean it out and he gave me a before and after pic on that as well. I would say that they are experienced, took the time to write, photo and explain the fireplace and the dryer vent. Not sure what all the complaints are about. I have had 2 other friends that used them and were very happy with their service. I wasn't going to use them based on the reviews and told A-1 that. They said they were not sure why only the bad reviews were posted as they have had others write good reviews which are not posted. Whats up with that yelp? This would put alot of small businesses out of work!!

Last year I purchased a condo with two chimneys. A-1 performed the inspection, cleaning and installation of caps for both chimneys. I also inquired about purchasing glass doors for my unusually sized living room fireplace. For each service, I found them professional and extremely helpful. The service techs were polite and timely. Since I was on a tight budget, the manager was very helpful in trying to keep the cost down for a closure on the front of my living room fireplace by giving me less costly alternatives which were not purchased from their business. I would not hesitate in recommending this company to my family or friends.

We had a badly damaged fireplace that needed sealing. The young man was courteous, professional & thorough. The inspection fee was applied toward our payment. We were very pleased with the services provided. We have used them in the past & will contact them for future service needs. The prompt service was also a plus.

They answered all of my questions and were very helpful on the phone before the appointment. The technician who worked at my house was great -- very nice, knowledgeable and efficient. My only complaint is that I was told they would arrive between 8:00-10:00 a.m. and I was the first appointment. I called after 10:00 a.m. the day of the service, was told I was the second appointment and was informed that someone would arrive by 11:00 a.m., which he did. I would use this company again and recommend.

A -1Chimney recently performed a chimney sweep and inspection on a property we just recently purchased. Anthony was prompt, courteous, and got straight to work. He went about his business until it was time to review his findings. I felt like it was an honest evaluation with no pressure to perform. I was very satisfied with their work and would recommend their services.

I paid attention to the reviews and am very glad I did. I had Aaron and Justin come to clean air ducts and dryer vent. What a great couple of guys! Also, all communications with the office were pleasant. This is a company in today's impersonal world that still pays attention to customer service and satisfaction. I'll be calling them again when I need my chimney or windows cleaned. One more satisfied customer :)))

Loved the service we have used with A-! Chimney. They came out and cleaned my carpet with their new high tech cleaning system. I was able to walk on my carpets immediately after they were done cleaning! Dry carpet cleaning is the way to go. They also did some other work at the house that was amazing. Usually a messy job but their employee Aaron was very fast, attention to detail and cleaned up the area like you wouldn't have even known he was there.

I called A-1 Chimney after almost getting burned by a Groupon deal with someone else (see my other reviews). I was told by the previous company that our chimneys were extra dirty, so it would cost extra to clean them. The guy at A-1 quoted me $149 for the first chimney and $99 for the second, regardless of how dirty they are. That is less than the cost of the Groupon deal with the upsell ($300 total). Alan came out right on time and was clean and professional. He cleaned our main chimney and even cleaned the fireplace (ashes and all), grill and glass doors as well! Not a speck of ash anywhere. He then went to the other chimney and said it wasn't dirty enough to clean. $149 and we our chimneys are good! He did point out a few other things we needed to fix, which were actually pretty obvious (like a cracked panel and unsealed gas line). I'm surprised there are two bad reviews here. We've used A1 for a decade now and we've always been completely satisfied. Prompt, professional and fair pricing. They lined and repaired our old chimney in 2001 and have cleaned it 3 or 4 times since then. We definitely recommend them!

Needed a chimney sweep at my Placerville property to keep my insurance company happy. I found A-1 to be convenient so I hired them for the job. They did the work promptly as promised and didn't make a laundry list of extra charges... The tenant said they did a good job. Would use again... No muss no fuss...

I appreciate the service A-1 Chimney provided for us. They also educated us on additional services to save us money for combining them. We had them come to clean our chimney and didn't even know we should have our dryer vent cleaned. We thought our dryer was dying, it would take 3 to 4 times to dry one load and now after they cleaned it it only takes one cycle! Looking forward to the money we will save on our energy bill. They were very polite and easy to work with. We will use them again!
